She was covered in mange and had no hope. Until a stranger stopped and gave her a second chance

Mia's rescue story

Mia’s story is one of grief, sorrow and resilience.

She had no fur, no strength left in her body, no one to reply or take care of her but a strong will to life.

She wanted someone to hold her paw and believe in her.

Mange had ravaged her skin. She couldn’t walk or eat properly. Her whole body was weak and frail.

Locals saw her everyday, some good ones even threw scraps of food her way but no one stepped up to take her to a vet or claim her as their own.

But Mia didn’t give up on people.

And finally, her savior, Hilen Elisci, arrived.

That’s when everything changed.

Mia started wagging her tail

The moment Hilen laid her eyes onto Mia she was heartbroken.

How can such a tiny soul suffer so much?

A tiny pup, covered in mange, hairless, eyes tired—but still wagging her tail.

Thank God, Mia didn’t run.

Instead, she looked up at Hilen and gently rested her head on her rescuer’s hand. That simple act said it all.

Her body was broken. But her spirit? Still clinging on.

Mia wasn’t suffering alone

Hilen was about to find out an even bigger heartbreak.

The original home of Mia had two more pups.

Both in similar conditions to Mia.

Both suffering from malnutrition and severe deformed body.

It looked like someone had locked these puppies in a garage and complete forgot about their existence.

All three dogs were rushed to the vet for immediate care.

Blood tests confirmed that while they were fighting mange and parasites, they were spared from more serious viral infections. That gave them one thing they hadn’t had in a long time: a real chance.

Healing came slow, so did trust

The vets rushed their treatment and began quarantine.

While the other two—now named Miran and Cetic—showed slow signs of improvement, Mia was still weaker.

Her body had been through too much. Alone on a road, trying to survive.

So she stayed behind for more care and treatment.

But with each passing day, she ate more. Wagged more. Trusted more.

She was finally healing, inside and out.

A new life starts for all three puppies

On the seventeenth day of Mia’s recovery, she got adopted.

The dog who had been left to rot on the side of a road now had a home.

Her fur began growing back. Her skin was no longer red and scabbed—it was healthy and soft. Her eyes sparkled again.

And every time her new owner came home, Mia’s tail wagged like she was seeing the whole world walk through the door.

Because to her, that human was the whole world.
